POSITION SUMMARY
Sony AI America (SAIA) is seeking highly motivated, self-driven Senior Research Scientists with expertise in privacy and security. Our team mainly focuses on the fundamental and applied research in privacy and security. The role of a research scientist should have an enthusiasm for breakthroughs in secure and privacy-preserving machine learning. Sony AI America is a remote-work organization – location is flexible.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct fundamental and innovative research in privacy and security related areas, including but not limited to privacy-preserving techniques, federated learning, data synthesis with generative AI, IP protection, etc.
Deep understanding of trustworthy AI and privacy and security risks in the whole life cycle of model development (especially large vision foundation model development) and various CV applications, such as Image classification, object detection, pose detection, semantic image segmentation, etc.
Identify and design privacy-preserving and robust approaches and rigorously assess their validities on both cloud models and resource-limited end/edge devices, such as Sony IMX500/501.
Build long-term collaboration with AI, Engineering and Product teams, seek for high-impact opportunities to launch solutions and advance long-term business growths, specifically Imaging & Sensing business.
Publish influential research outcomes, give presentations in top-tier conferences and journals.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
Your qualifications and experience should include:
Work experience with a role with primary emphasis on privacy and security.
PhD (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, Statistics, data science, or other related disciplines.
Publications or hands-on experience in privacy and security, data synthesis, large vision foundation model development, computer vision, tiny-device learning, distributed/decentralized system design, IP protection, etc.
Familiar with Python, C++, Pytorch, Tensorflow, etc.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
(Preferred) Experience in leading or participating in significant research projects.
(Preferred) Paper awards in top conferences, or winner of international competition award.

Annual incentive bonus
The anticipated annual base salary for this position in the US is $180,000 to $220,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
