Job Description

As a Senior Revenue Accountant at Axon, you will be part of a collaborative team, ensuring accurate revenue and cost of goods sold through various analytical procedures. Your responsibilities will include understanding the order-to-cash cycle, managing revenue streams, performing monthly and quarterly reviews, partnering with IT for reporting, performing SOX internal controls, and supporting audit activities. This role requires initiative, creative thinking, and a passion for process improvement within a dynamic environment. The job involves working near US Hubs such as Scottsdale, Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Sterling, Denver, or Seattle.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-5 years of accounting and analysis experience
  • Experience working with ASC 606 compliance guidelines
  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail, strong planning and organization skills
Good to have:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Recent public accounting experience or revenue experience
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and RevStream software
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Sigma, SQL and other data analytics skills

Your Impact

As Axon’s Senior Revenue Accountant, you will be part of a highly collaborative team which partners with Financial Planning & Analysis, Commercial Controllership, and Operations to ensure complete and accurate revenue and cost of goods sold through various analytical procedures. What You’ll Do 

Location:  Hybrid Presence based near our US Hubs - Scottsdale, Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Sterling, Denver, or Seattle

Reports to: Manager, Revenue Accounting

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Company’s order-to-cash cycle, with a particular focus on how quoting through revenue recognition is affected by upstream processes to optimize overall customer and Company outcomes
  • Have end-to-end ownership over key revenue streams, controls, and financial statement disclosures
  • Perform monthly and quarterly analytic review procedures to ensure proper accounting of revenue and cost
  • Partner with the information technology department to build robust reporting
  • Perform reviews over automated revenue allocations to ensure proper quoting of products/services, completeness, and accuracy
  • Work closely with all revenue streams to accurately test and validate proper accounting treatments
  • Manages internal stakeholder expectations through monitoring and reporting key metrics on the Revenue Accounting organization’s performance relative to quality, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Perform manual revenue allocations, modifications, and prospective modification analysis as assigned
  • Utilizes understanding of the Company’s quoting, ordering and revenue recognition systems and to redesign work and help business partners
  • Perform key SOX internal controls
  • Prepare and book journal entries to ensure the appropriate revenue and cost treatments
  • Ensure integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, and internal controls
  • Support internal and external audit activities, including SOX Compliance
  • Assist with special projects as assigned

What You Bring

  • Passion for being involved in changing processes and applying automation in a complex environment
  • Bachelor or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation, or ability to qualify, preferred
  • 3-5 years of accounting and analysis experience, revenue a plus
  • Recent public accounting experience or revenue experience with a publicly-traded company highly desirable
  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills are required for frequent interaction with financial and non-financial management
  • Experience and knowledge working with ASC 606 compliance guidelines
  • Attention to detail, strong planning and organization skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Salesforce and RevStream software knowledge are a plus
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Sigma, SQL and other data analytics procedures are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team setting
  • Concern for quality and deadlines
  • Ability to influence and build consensus
