Job Description

As a Senior Security Engineer in Security Research at Google, you'll conduct zero-day vulnerability research on widely-used technologies in end-user devices, focusing on development and creating tools to enhance research efforts. You'll engage the community by publishing research findings and collaborate with other engineers on vulnerability analysis and response. Responsibilities include protecting network boundaries, hardening systems against attacks, providing security services for sensitive data, and working with software engineers to identify and fix security flaws. You will also own and drive the resolution of complex security incidents and technical security issues. This role requires extensive experience in security assessments, design reviews, threat modeling, security engineering, and coding.

Must have:

8+ years security assessment/design review/threat modeling experience
8+ years security engineering, computer/network security, security protocols experience
8+ years coding experience in general-purpose languages
3+ years leading technical teams or risk analysis
Conduct zero-day vulnerability research
Create tools and infrastructure to improve research

Good to have:

Experience publishing security research
Understanding of vulnerability research security fields
Excellent organizational and communication skills

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
8 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
8 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
3 years of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in publishing the security research.
Understanding of one or more vulnerability research security fields.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.

About the job

There's no such thing as a "safe system" - only safer systems. Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. As a Security Engineer, you help protect network boundaries, keep computer systems and network devices hardened against attacks and provide security services to protect highly sensitive data like passwords and customer information. Security Engineers work directly with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. You also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

You use your industry experience to own and drive the resolution of complex security incidents, policy questions and technical security issues.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Conduct zero-day vulnerability research and utilise development, with a focus on widely-used technologies in end-user devices.

Work with other security engineers on the analysis and response to vulnerabilities reported by other parties.
