Job Description

As a Senior Security Engineer at Waze, you'll be responsible for defining and advocating security best practices, including developing and enforcing technical standards, procedures, and policies. You will proactively identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities across Waze's infrastructure. Responsibilities include contributing to incident response and vulnerability management, automating security infrastructure, advising developers on secure development practices, and conducting security design and implementation reviews. The role requires strong experience in security engineering, security assessments, threat modeling, and coding. You'll collaborate with the Facilities Management team to create innovative security strategies and risk assessment plans.

Must have:

5+ years security engineering experience
Security assessments/design reviews/threat modeling
5+ years coding experience
Incident response and vulnerability management
Secure development best practices

Good to have:

Penetration testing
Vulnerability analysis
Cloud-native software experience (Kubernetes)
Leading technical teams/risk analysis

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience in security engineering, in areas related to security protocols, attack analysis, mitigation strategies, secure network design, operating system hardening, or web application security.
5 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
5 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
1 year of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in leading and conducting security reviews, pen testing, vulnerability analysis, finding or fixing security issues, etc.
Experience in breaking (finding bugs, attacking systems, etc) and building (engineering solutions, addressing root causes, etc).
Experience in cloud-native software and orchestration stacks, such as serverless architectures, Kubernetes, etc.
Ability to learn and work with a broad range of tech stacks, including Cloud-native architectures.
Understanding of threat modeling and risk-based security assessments

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Contribute to incident response and vulnerability management, through activities such as vulnerability identification and triage, remediation guidance, and digital forensics.
Automate the configuration and change management of security infrastructure.
Advise developers and site reliability engineer team regarding secure development best practices.
Conduct security design and implementation reviews.
