Team: 

SRE - System Delivery is a cross-functional, centralized, horizontal team that works with other SRE teams of PhonePe to build various Infrastructure Services, carry out routine production management activities like Infrastructure Scaling, Database Maintenance & Operating System Vulnerability rollouts etc. 

Job Overview: 

As a Sr. SRE SD Engineer, you would be responsible for building, managing & scaling up the Production Systems of PhonePe to provide uninterrupted services to its users across the country. You would be expected to own the maintenance and operational activities of one or more services, comprising multiple components and technologies, by following predefined SOPs 

Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Understand various Tech Stacks & components that you are responsible for
• Troubleshooting of issues while carrying out Production Activities
• Simplify problem statements, understand solutions & build SOPs
• Ability to identify dependencies, own execution of large movements / migrations / activities 
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders in the team and corresponding SRE counterparts 
• Participate in hiring & training for the Organization 
• Be willing to work in night shifts and Oncall 
• Mentor L1 Engineers 

Qualifications and Skills: 

• Minimum of 4-7 years of strong hands-on experience in Linux / Unix System Administration 
• Good understanding of Database Systems, CDN / Proxy, Virtualization / Hypervisors, fundamentals of Networking (DHCP / PXE / Routing / Gateway etc). 
• Hands-on experience of automation / configuration management using either saltstack or equivalent 
• Hands-on experience in private and public cloud environments
• Good communications skills 
• Ability to lead your team into the change by evangelizing the need for it, thinking logically and creating credible arguments.

Strong knowledge of the following will be a plus: 

• Implementation of cloud services on linux using kvm/qemu 
• Kubernetes or similar container orchestration technologies. 
• MySQL / Mariadb / PostgreSQL 
• Aerospike 
• ElasticSearch 
• RabbitMQ 
• nGinx 
• Python or any other scripting language 

Work Location: Bangalore 

Note: This role requires the candidate to be available for on-call shifts on a rotational basis, covering 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
