Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer on Google's Core team, you'll build the foundational technology behind flagship products. Responsibilities encompass designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions. You'll manage project priorities and collaborate with peers in design reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices. You'll also contribute to documentation, triage issues, and debug/resolve system problems. The Core team focuses on creating central solutions, breaking down technical barriers, and strengthening existing systems across Google's products, impacting significant technical decisions company-wide.

Must have:

5+ years software development experience
Data structures/algorithms expertise
Mobile development experience
Software testing & maintenance
Software design & architecture
Code review and feedback
Debugging and issue resolution

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in CS or related field
Technical leadership experience
Front-end (Javascript/Typescript, Flutter, Dart, Angular)
Back-end (GoLang, Rust, Java)
Machine learning (Python)

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
Experience in mobile development.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
Experience in front-end coding tools and languages (e.g., Javascript/Typescript, Flutter, Dart, Angular).
Experience in back-end coding languages (e.g., GoLang, Rust, or Java).
Experience in Machine learning (ML) model coding languages (e.g., Python)

Responsibilities

Write and test product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
