Google Cloud seeks a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Performance and Machine Learning Accelerators. Responsibilities include collaborating on the ML hardware/software stack, developing TPU/GPU performance methodologies, co-designing hardware/software to meet future AI goals, contributing to ML models and systems using C++ or Python, and evaluating performance/cost trade-offs. The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of software development experience, expertise in performance engineering, and strong programming skills. Experience with ML algorithms, hardware simulators, and SoC architecture is highly desirable. This role is crucial for advancing Google Cloud's AI capabilities.
Must have:
  • 5+ years software development experience
  • Performance engineering experience
  • C++ or Python proficiency
  • Collaboration across ML hardware/software stack
  • Develop TPU/GPU performance methodology
Good to have:
  • Master's/Ph.D. in performance evaluation
  • Experience with simulators and SoC architecture
  • ML algorithm expertise
  • Hardware/Software Co-design experience

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience coding in any one of the following languages: C++ or Python.
  • Experience in performance engineering or performance analysis.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. with an emphasis on performance evaluation or performance analysis of Machine Learning (ML) Systems.
  • Experience with simulators, especially hardware simulators.
  • Experience with computer architecture, especially System on a Chip (SoC) architecture.
  • Experience with ML algorithms.
  • Experience with Hardware/Software Co-design.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teams across the Machine Learning (ML) hardware/software stack.
  • Develop Tensor Processing Unit (TPU)/Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) performance methodology. 
  • Co-design Hardware/Software to discover what Google needs to build today to meet tomorrow's Artificial Intelligence (AI) goals. 
  • Develop and contribute using C++ or Python to ML models, compilers, ML systems, TPU accelerators, etc. 
  • Evaluate performance/cost trade-offs of hardware features and software optimization techniques.
