Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer on Google's Search Content Platform team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of search. You'll design, develop, test, and deploy innovative software solutions that enable billions of users to access information efficiently and effectively. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies like Large Language Models (LLMs) and distributed systems to build high-performance data platforms that power Google Search. You'll collaborate with a team of talented engineers and data scientists to deliver impactful results. This role involves writing and testing code, participating in design reviews, reviewing code from other developers, contributing to documentation, and troubleshooting product issues. You'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the global community by improving the way people search for information.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
5+ years of software development experience
3+ years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products
1 year of experience with software design and architecture
3+ years of experience with front-end frameworks, full-stack development, or API development
Experience with data structures and algorithms
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Good to have:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related field
Experience with distributed systems engineering
Experience with building low-latency, high-throughput data platform services
Experience applying LLMs to solve product problems
Experience working with Data Science teams
Experience with data management

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
3 years of experience with front-end frameworks, full-stack development, or API development.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java).
Experience in distributed systems engineering, building low latency, and high throughput data platform services.
Experience in applying Large Language Models (LLMs) to solve real product problems.
Experience in working with Data Science team.
Experience in data management.

Responsibilities

Write and test product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
