Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineering Manager at Google, you'll lead a team of engineers functioning as a 'virtual device vendor' for Google Global Networks. This role requires managing engineers across multiple teams and locations, overseeing a large product budget, and deploying large-scale projects internationally. Responsibilities include hiring, coaching, supporting team leaders, fostering ownership, defining team missions, and overseeing networking technology, software development lifecycle, and software/hardware testing and validation at scale. You'll contribute to product strategy and team development, leveraging your technical expertise in areas like information retrieval, AI, and distributed computing. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical and leadership skills with experience in data centers, networking, and real-time software systems.

Must have:

8+ years software development experience
5+ years technical leadership
5+ years people management
Lead engineering teams
Oversee large-scale projects
Manage budgets

Good to have:

5 years experience in data centers
Experience with scale, real-time systems
Network test automation experience

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role overseeing projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

5 years of experience in data centers, networking or scale operations.
Experience in designing and implementing scale, real-time software systems.
Experience in Network Test Automation, Networking Protocols, and Network Troubleshooting.
