Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineering Manager at Google, you will lead engineering teams and build AI-driven capabilities and features for learning products. You will guide the development of AI capabilities, manage data training systems, and oversee infrastructure for efficient AI model training. You will define technical goals, strategy, and roadmaps, collaborate with stakeholders to drive project delivery, and build and manage a high-performing engineering team. You will be responsible for developing cutting-edge AI models that personalize learning experiences and provide learners with the information they need, when they need it. You will collaborate across Google to enhance learning on different products, especially in STEM education. Your work will make learning more accessible, engaging, and effective for everyone.

Must have:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with software development.
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
5 years of experience in a people management role.
Lead Engineering teams.
Build AI-driven capabilities and features.

Good to have:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science.
Experience in Machine Learning (ML).
Experience in building/training AI models.
Experience in managing Software Engineering teams.
Experience with coaching and supporting engineers.
Experience with ideation and innovating at scale.
Ability to collaborate with other people, teams, and communicate cross-functionally.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or in a related technical field.
Experience in Machine Learning (ML), building /training Artificial Intelligence (AI) models, backend data infrastructure or data engineering.
Experience in managing Software Engineering teams and delivering multi-quarter projects.
Experience with coaching and supporting engineers and engineering managers.
Experience with ideation and innovating at scale.
Ability to collaborate with other people, teams, function across the world and communicate cross-functionally.

You will collaborate across Google to enhance learning on different products, especially in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education. Learners will search for a math concept and instantly receiving tailored explanations, or use Google Lens to identify a machine and access interactive simulations. By combining AI expertise with educational understanding, you will make learning more accessible, engaging, and effective for everyone.
