Job Description

A Tableau pre-sales professional is sought for the Japan region. This role involves acting as a trusted advisor to customers, understanding their business challenges, and providing technical and solution-oriented advice on data utilization and analysis. The Senior Solution Engineer will introduce Tableau solutions like Tableau Cloud and Pulse, collaborate with sales teams, and deliver presentations at major events. The ideal candidate is proactive, technically skilled, and passionate about leveraging technology to impact customer businesses, contributing to customer success and team development.

  • Broad technical knowledge in security, networking, and cloud.

  • Conduct pre-sales activities in collaboration with internal direct sales teams.
  • Achieve customer success by promoting Tableau adoption for accounts through building excellent customer relationships.
  • Deliver presentations at events such as Salesforce World Tour Tokyo, Tableau Conference, and Big Data Summit.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and create content for demos and training workshops.
  • Quickly grasp new technologies to be released in the future, such as AI, and introduce them to customers.

Required Conditions for this Position

We are looking for proactive professionals with solid expertise in pre-sales and technical aspects gained in the software or IT industry, or as an end-user. Desirable candidates will have broad technical knowledge in areas such as security, networking, and cloud, along with some specialized knowledge in data-related fields (databases, data modeling, ETL, BI, data management, MDM, etc.).

Experience in system implementation and proposal in the financial industry is a plus.

  • Experienced: Skills in building trusted relationships with customers and the ability to work within the sales cycle.
  • Highly Technical: Practical technical experience in some of the above areas.
  • Expertise: Experience in building and implementing Proof of Concepts (PoC) and responding to functional and technical elements of RFI/RFP.
  • Passionate: Passion for technology and the ability to leverage that passion to impact customers' businesses.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to present to any audience. English skills are not required but are a plus.
  • Sales Acumen: Ability to demonstrate actions and skills to support the sales team, such as anticipated questions, business value explanations, and product positioning.
  • Flexible: Ability to travel and work flexibly as needed.
  • Team Player: Ability to support team members in achieving team goals, not just individual goals.

Expected Achievements in the First Year

  • Complete the world-class bootcamp program provided by Salesforce and Tableau.
  • Obtain Tableau Desktop Specialist and Tableau Certified Data Analyst certifications.
  • Obtain Tableau Server Certified Associate certification.
  • Support the entire sales cycle from discovery and evaluation to closing for a series of accounts and regions.
  • Take responsibility for key initiative areas and support the overall development of the team.
  • Attend world-class marketing events by Tableau and demonstrate best practices.
  • Collaborate with account executives in planning for regions, accounts, and deals.
  • Contribute to product direction by providing customer requirements from the field to product management and engineering teams.
  • Play an essential role in continuous customer success through seamless engagement with accounts.
  • Play a significant role in the wonderful Tableau community through forums, blogs, and social media.
