Google is seeking a Senior Staff Software Developer, Front End for its Google Workspace team. This role requires 8+ years of software development experience, including expertise in data structures/algorithms, front-end frameworks, full-stack or API development, and software design/architecture. Responsibilities include providing technical leadership on high-impact projects, coaching a distributed engineering team, managing project priorities and deliverables, and designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale software solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience in a complex, matrixed organization and a proven track record of leading project teams and setting technical direction. This is a full-time position based in Sunnyvale, CA, offering a competitive salary, bonus, equity, and benefits.
Must have:
  • 8+ years software development experience
  • Data structures/algorithms expertise

  • Full-stack or API development experience

  • Technical leadership skills
  • Project management skills
Good to have:
  • Master's or PhD in related field
  • 5+ years in technical leadership
  • Experience in a complex, matrixed organization

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 7 years of experience with front-end frameworks, full-stack development, or API development.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $237,000-$337,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
