Job Description

The Sr. System Test Technician will be responsible for performing fuel cell component and system testing, along with test support functions and maintenance for fuel cell systems and components. This role requires strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, excellent teamwork, and the ability to communicate and resolve issues with engineering and manufacturing teams. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment involving testing and troubleshooting various equipment. Core duties include performing and repairing component, subsystem, and system-level tests, compiling results, maintaining logs, troubleshooting malfunctions, enforcing safety procedures, and mentoring other technicians. Experience constructing and operating test stations for mechanical parts, assembling electrical harnesses, and assisting with new hire training are also key responsibilities. The role also involves maintaining a clean workspace, representing the company professionally, and traveling to customer/partner sites.
Must have:
  • 3+ years of test, manufacturing, or operations experience

Sr. System Test Technician

Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Department: Engineering

Position Summary

The Sr. System Test Technician will perform fuel cell component and system testing, test support functions, and maintenance for fuel cell system and component testing. Excellent electrical and mechanical aptitude as well as strong teamwork skills are expected.  This role requires close interaction with Plug engineering and manufacturing teams as well as external partners to ensure any issues get communicated and resolved in a timely manner. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment performing testing and troubleshooting on a variety of equipment.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform component, subsystem and system level testing, troubleshooting, and repairs as needed.
  • Compile test results and rework when needed while maintaining logs of tests and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and lead efforts to resolve problems with components and systems in test.
  • Thoroughly understand lab systems operation and possess the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Exhibit and enforce the safety procedures in the facility.
  • Provide mentorship to system test technicians.
  • Experience constructing and operating test stations used to test mechanical parts such as valves, pumps, fans, etc.
  • Ability to assemble, modify, and repair electrical harnesses and connectors.
  • Assist with training of new hire system test and field technicians.
  • Maintain 5S throughout the day.
  • Always Represent Plug Power in a professional manner.
  • Travel to customer/partner sites.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 3+ years test, manufacturing or operations related experience required.

• AAS degree preferred.

• High degree of manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude

• Comfort operating hand/power tools safely and efficiently

• Ability to work overtime as assigned and commit to a flexible work schedule around manufacturing demand

• Ability to operate a computer and perform computer transactions accurately

• Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office software programs

• Quality focused and detail-oriented

• Team player with a positive communication style

• Ability to stand and/or and sit for long periods of time in performance of job functions

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted

Pay Rate:

$20.90 - $28.00
