Senior Technical Artist

Intrepid Studios is looking for a Senior Technical Artist who is adept in creating tools, scripts, and processes to support our art department in the development of our epic MMORPG Ashes of Creation. We are looking for a detail-oriented developer with hands-on Unreal 5 experience.

Responsibilities:

• Will work across departments to empower our art teams to do innovative new techniques that raise the quality bar, develop new solutions, and streamline processes.
• Collaborate with Environment Art, Character Art, Level Design, VFX, and other disciplines to automate repetitive processes.
• Creating Procedural Content Generation (PCG) brushes based on requirements from the Art Director.
• Submitting asset requests for meshes or materials needed by these tools.
• Establish and maintain best practices, quality bar, pipelines, and documentation.
• Work with engineers, artists, and designers to address game performance and memory usage issues.

• 5+ years of experience supporting Technical Art needs using the Unreal engine.
• Ability to proficiently profile / debug CPU and GPU issues within Unreal Engine using Visual Studio / Rider, RenderDoc and / or Unreal Insights.
• Strong knowledge of Unreal and its various features
• Experience with Blueprint scripting
• Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
• Strong understanding of pipelines and how to design and optimize them.

• Published Console or PC game project experience
• Experience with Houdini
• Experience with Terrain Systems
• Unreal C++ experience

The Legal Bits:
We offer competitive pay based on market standards plus a significant annual bonus structure. The base salary for this role is between $85,000 - $136,000, depending on skills and experience. Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall throughout the range based on these factors.
