ZeniMax Online Studios is seeking a Senior Technical Artist to join our studio for the development of our next AAA game. This is an opportunity to work alongside an experienced group of developers in pre-production for a new IP. The ideal candidate is a skilled technical artist who thinks procedurally to solve problems and has experience building large, complex environments. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of Artists, Designers, and Engineers to develop efficient workflows, create production tools, and establish performance metrics.
Responsibilities
Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to develop efficient, maintainable workflows for large-scale worldbuilding efforts
Develop worldbuilding tools and processes tailored for artists and designers
Work closely with Engineering to establish technical guidelines and performance metrics
Provide support, training, and mentoring to users across a remote, globally distributed environment
Document workflows and champion best practices across the studio
Qualifications
5+ years of relevant experience in professional game development
Experience developing large scale procedural solutions
Deep knowledge of Houdini
Proficiency with Python and VEX
Experience with Houdini viewer states
Strong technical background with the ability to design and implement systems
Familiarity with physically based materials and rendering systems
Strong troubleshooting skills
Familiarity with common data formats (e.g., XML, JSON) and 3D data formats (e.g., OBJ, FBX, Alembic)
Preferred Skills
Proficiency with C++
Environmental creation experience, including terrain
Familiarity with the Qt framework
Understanding of modern shader capabilities
Asset optimization experience
Experience with Houdini crowd simulations
Familiarity with Perforce and asset management integration
Salary Range
Senior Technical Artist - The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $75,000 - $165,000 per year.
ZeniMax has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
