A Senior Technical Designer is needed at Climax Studios in Portsmouth to design and implement enemy creatures in a AAA game using Unreal Engine 5. Must have experience with technical design, enemy character implementation, Unreal Engine 5, Character Behaviour Trees, character animations, character AI, and scripting with Blueprints.

Climax Studios was established nearly 30 years ago, we have an extensive history in developing all kinds of digital experiences across all formats, and we have won multiple awards along the way.

We have a state of the art studio located in the heart of the beautiful Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth overlooking the Harbour.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Designer with proven technical design skills & experience working on Console titles to join our award-winning team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a AAA IP where you will be responsible for designing and implementing enemy creatures into the game, owning features from prototype phase to completing them in production. This is a great opportunity to work with a team of passionate and experienced designers on a AAA project.

Requirements

  •   Experience working as a Technical Designer on at least one published console title.
  • Experience with technical design work related to designing and implementing enemy characters.
  •   Proven experience working within Unreal Engine 5
  • Strong Proficiency with Character Behaviour Trees.
  •    Proven experience working with character animations and character A.I.
  •    Strong proficiency at scripting with Blueprints.
  •    Be able to take a feature from the vision phase to prototype and then into production.
  •    Be able to communicate with artists, programmers, and animators.
  •    Enjoys a creative challenge with the passion and motivation to make great games
  •    Experience of helping to plan and schedule workflows.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and maintain documentation for all owned features.
  •    Taking ownership and responsibility for designing, setting up and implementing enemy creatures into the game.
  •    Keep to project vision for best practices, methodologies used and quality benchmark.
  •    Work within the wider design team to champion best technical practices.
  •    As part of reviews, able to provide constructive critique and solutions.
  •    Ability to self-motivate as-well-as motivate other members of the team.
