Job Description

Gunzilla Games seeks a Senior Technical VFX Artist for their AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, Off The Grid (OTG). Responsibilities include developing new VFX features in Unreal Engine (or similar), optimizing Niagara Systems, managing the VFX pipeline, mentoring junior artists, and ensuring performance optimization through shader creation and material graph expertise. Collaboration with other departments (Design, Tech Art, Env Art) is crucial. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience with Unreal Engine VFX and shaders, Niagara, Blueprints, and performance profiling tools. Prior AAA title experience is required.

ABOUT THE JOB

Gunzilla Games is looking for a Senior Technical VFX Artist to join us in working on OTG (Off The Grid), an all-new AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, currently available as Early Access on PlayStation®5, Xbox® Series X|S, and PC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with VFX and Shaders in Unreal or similar engines to create new features.
  • Create and optimize Niagara Systems.
  • Take responsibility for the VFX pipeline, briefing, mentoring/informing VFX Artists on best practices, validation/reviews and keeping documentation up to date.
  • Confidence in the Material Graph inside Unreal to create any shaders and VFX, and knowledge on how to optimize for performance.
  • Working with other departments such as Design, Tech Art and Env Art to support shaders and VFX.
  • Stay current with industry trends and techniques to improve our VFX pipeline continuously.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with VFX and Shaders in Unreal or similar engines, preferably Niagara.
  • Able to author module scripts.
  • Experience with Blueprints
  • Experience with Unreal Insights or any profiling tools such as Pix or RenderDoc to diagnose VFX/Rendering performance bottlenecks
  • Previously shipped AAA title as a VFX Artist.
