Job Description

As a Senior Tools Engineer at Turtle Rock, you'll design, implement, and maintain tools within the Unreal Engine ecosystem. You'll collaborate closely with content creators to understand their needs and build efficient pipelines. Responsibilities include creating new tools, extending existing ones, troubleshooting Unreal Engine editor issues, and optimizing content creation workflows for internal and external teams. This role demands strong problem-solving skills and proficiency in C/C++ and Visual Studio. You'll work in an iterative environment and contribute to the development of our next AAA title.
Must have:
  • 2+ years professional tools programming experience
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Visual Studio
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Unreal Engine 4/5 experience
  • Understanding of various data formats
Good to have:
  • Experience shipping multiplatform titles
  • Multiplayer action game/FPS experience
  • Shell scripting and automation experience
  • Proficiency in Python and C#
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, Maya, 3D Studio Max

We're looking for a Senior Tools Engineer to join the team! In this role, you will own and implement tools within the unreal engine ecosystem. You will be working with all members of the team to facilitate their development needs.

Responsibilities

  • Listen to and understand the needs of the content creation staff to help design and create new tools/pipelines in Unreal Engine
  • Maintain and extend existing tools to meet the needs of the project
  • Create tools that make content creation easy for internal and external folks
  • Diagnose and solve complex problems with most unreal engine editor systems

Requirements

  • Comfortable working in an iteration driven environment and with minimal oversight
  • Strong communication and team problem solving skills
  • At least 2 years of professional tools programming experience
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Visual Studio
  • Rapid problem-solving and firefighting skills
  • Understanding of different data and file formats and the tradeoffs between
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering

Preferences

  • Prior experience shipping a multiplatform title
  • Previous work on Multiplayer Action Games and FPS's a plus
  • Experience with writing shell scripts and/or other tools to automate tasks
  • Proficiency in Python, C#
  • Familiar with Photoshop, Maya and 3D Studio Max

The estimated base pay range for this role is:

$121,000—$166,000 USD
