Vertigo Games in Amsterdam seeks a Senior VFX Artist to contribute to their next VR game. Responsibilities include creating high-quality VFX using diverse techniques, researching and implementing innovative VFX, monitoring performance impact, and collaborating with the art team. The ideal candidate possesses 4+ years of experience in real-time VFX, a strong artistic sense, proficiency in Unreal Engine's Niagara system, and knowledge of VFX software (e.g., Embergen, Houdini, Blender). The role involves creating all necessary VFX art, understanding materials and blueprints within Unreal Engine, and providing/receiving constructive feedback. Bonus points for HLSL shader language knowledge, experience with Niagara's scratch pad, and mobile/VR experience.

Must have:

4+ years real-time VFX experience
Proficient in Unreal Engine's Niagara
Strong artistic skills & animation sense
Collaboration & communication skills
Create all required VFX art

Good to have:

Your mission

We are Vertigo Games, developers and publishers of top-end VR titles like Metro Awakening, Arizona Sunshine, After the Fall and The 7th Guest. Our Amsterdam studio has started development of our next VR game, following Metro Awakening, and we are looking to recruit a Senior VFX Artist who can aid us in our mission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Create high quality VFX in a range of techniques and styles.
Research and implement new, innovative VFX techniques.
Monitoring VFX impact on performance and adjusting accordingly.
Collaborate with the Lead Artist, Art Director and other disciplines, communication and collaboration on VFX is driven by you.

Your profile

Experience as a VFX Artist typically gained over 4+ years and showcasing real-time VFX work through a reel/portfolio.
Good artistic insight and feeling for timing and animation.
Being able to create all the required art for your VFX.
Working ability with Unreal Engine's Niagara System.
Good knowledge of Unreal Engine e.g. materials, blueprint, etc.
Knowledge of special effects software (e.g. Embergen, Houdini, Blender).
Self-motivated team-player that is able to receive and provide objective feedback.

Bonus points for

Understanding of HLSL shader language.
Working ability with Niagara’s scratch pad.
Mobile / VR experience.
