CAE USA, Defense & Security is seeking experienced engineers to train the U.S. Armed Forces and partners. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and integrating real-time aero and aircraft systems simulations for military training devices. The candidate will work with the Passive Sensors team, simulating Targeting Pods and Electronic Warfare solutions, and will contribute to the development and deployment of training systems, networking, and platform integration. The candidate is expected to follow lead engineers, complete assigned work with limited guidance, and contribute to a team environment. The candidate will be required to provide solutions to complex problems and update software support documentation as needed.
Must have:
  • Design and test Targeting Pod and Electronic Warfare models.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Apply software engineering principles.
  • Work within a team environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • DoD Secret Clearance is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
Good to have:
  • Strong C/C++ skills
  • Strong integration experience
  • Familiarity with FORTRAN, Ada
  • Knowledge of Targeting Pod and/or Electronic Warfare models
  • Experience using Jira, GitHub, ClearQuest, and ClearCase

Summary

You will design, develop, test, and integrate real-time aero and aircraft systems simulations for military training devices. This is a hands-on, full life cycle software engineering position for software engineers who desire to grow their skills and career beyond traditional boundaries while creating enduring solutions for a truly meaningful purpose.  

This position is to join our Passive Sensors team with a focus on simulating Targeting Pods and Electronic Warfare solutions for our military training devices. As a Software Engineer, the candidate is expected to contribute to the development and deployment of training systems, networking, interfacing with platform simulation applications, and general product-level integration and troubleshooting. 

 

The candidate should be able to follow the direction of lead engineers, complete assigned work with limited guidance on technical direction, and work in a team environment. The candidate should also be able to communicate status/issues along with solutions/recommendations to lead engineers, and update or develop software support documentation as required. This position requires assisting with the development of technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problemsSolutions must be imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organizational objectives and processes.  

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate, and test Targeting Pod and Electronic Warfare models to meet customer requirements 

  • Demonstrate strong analytical, applied math, and problem solving skills 

  • Apply software engineering principles to complete assigned tasks within budget and schedule commitments 

  • Work with senior engineers to understand tasking and complete work with a limited amount of direction 

  • Work within and positively contribute to a team environment 

  • Maintain, upgrade, and improve existing Targeting Pod and Electronic Warfare models 

  • Analyze legacy Targeting Pod and Electronic Warfare models to understand existing functionality and modify to support new requirements 

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • DoD Secret Clearance is required 

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Program Access prior to the start of employment. 

  • Ability to obtain an elevated clearance is required 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline 

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience 

  • Candidate should be a fast learner with very strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming techniques and design patterns 

  • Experience with developing software for Linux 

  • Ability to carry tasks through to completion with only general technical direction 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role. 

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Strong C/C++ skills 

  • Strong integration experience

Security Responsibilities 

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.  

  •  Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance. 

 

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.  

 

Work Environment 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
