Job Description

As a Silicon Circuit Characterization Engineer at NVIDIA, you'll be responsible for the post-silicon characterization of new chips to optimize performance, power, yield, and quality. This involves building methodologies for characterizing analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits, correlating silicon behavior with simulations, and designing tools to improve efficiency. You will troubleshoot complex silicon and system-level problems, collaborate with other engineering teams, and drive design improvements for future products. The role requires hands-on experience with silicon bring-up, frequency and power characterization, and familiarity with various lab equipment and analysis tools.
Must have:
  • BS/MS in EE/CE or equiv.
  • 5+ years relevant experience

  • Understanding of product binning
  • Proficiency in Python/C++
Good to have:
  • dI/dt analysis experience

Working the Silicon Solutions Engineering Team at NVIDIA, you will be responsible for productizing NVIDIA's chips into groundbreaking consumer, professional, server, mobile, and automotive solutions. The qualified candidate should be comfortable in a lab environment and should demonstrate a passion towards creation, execution and improvement of silicon validation plans.

What you will be doing:

  • As a Silicon Circuit Characterization engineer for NVIDIA's family of chips and products, you will participate in silicon bringup & post-silicon characterization of new silicon to optimize performance, power, yield, and quality to define the world’s fastest products.

  • Build methodologies to characterize Analog, digital and Mixed Signal circuits, silicon features, correlate silicon behavior with simulations.      

  • Design tools to improve execution efficiency to facilitate the ability to work simultaneously on multiple products.  

  • Find creative solutions to complex silicon and system level problems and be on the frontline to lead show-stopper bugs, in order to enable product shipment.

  • Work closely with other engineering teams to determine coverage needs and constraints.

  • Drive design improvements for future product based on what is found in the lab.

What we need to see:

  • BS or MS degree in EE/CE or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in silicon bring-up and post silicon validation activities.

  • Excellent problem solving, collaborative, and interpersonal skills. Experience working with offshore teams preferred.

  • Knowledge of chip and board level dI/dt analysis/mitigation techniques and board PDN design background is highly desirable.

  • Hands-on experience with silicon bringup, frequency and power characterization, Tester to System correlation, lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, DAQ, Spectrum Analyzers).

  • Deep understanding of product binning methods, optimization techniques, methods, trade-off analysis and tools for data analysis and statistics.

  • Exposure to critical path analysis, power analysis, process technologies, transistor/device physics, silicon reliability and aging mechanisms.

  • Familiarity with Python, C/C++, tool and script development

  • Background with power supply and substrate noise analysis and mitigation.

  • Exposure to digital design, circuit analysis, computer architecture, BIOS, drivers, and software applications.
