Job Description

Electronic Arts is seeking Software Developer Interns for its game engine programming team. Interns will collaborate with senior programmers, implement new technologies, develop and optimize engine features, debug and troubleshoot issues, optimize memory usage, and provide production support. This is a 4-month hybrid internship, combining on-site and remote work, offering hands-on experience contributing to real projects. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of C++, familiarity with game engine concepts, excellent problem-solving skills, and effective teamwork abilities. Unreal Engine experience is a plus. The internship is open to students enrolled in an accredited degree program in Summer 2025, graduating no earlier than December 2025, and legally authorized to work in Canada.

Join our dynamic game development team to work on cutting-edge engine technology that powers some of the most popular games in the industry. As an intern, you'll gain hands-on experience in game engine programming, contributing to real projects and enhancing your skills in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior programmers to implement new technologies.

  • Assist in developing and optimizing engine features to improve performance.

  • Debug and troubleshoot engine-related issues to ensure stability and efficiency.

  • Optimize memory usage to enhance engine performance and efficiency.

  • Provide production support to address and resolve engine-related issues in live environments.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • Good understanding of C++.

  • Familiarity with game engine concepts and architecture.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical ideas clearly.

  • Unreal Engine experience or any work on game related project is a nice to have.

We are only considering students who will be enrolled in an accredited degree program in the summer of 2025, slated to graduate no earlier than December 2025. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis during the 4-month internship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

About The Company

Motive is a AAA video game development studio established in 2015, and located in Montreal, Quebec. The studio is part of Electronic Arts studio network and has worked on action-adventure licenses. Motive supported the solo campaign on Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II and was the lead developer of Star Wars™: Squadrons and the Dead Space™ remake. The team is currently working on an Iron Man™ game.
