Software Development Engineer III

Introduction to team

Expedia Technology teams partner with our Product teams to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. A singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive loyalty and traveler satisfaction.

Lodging Connectivity is building a competitive, flexible and intuitive set of capabilities and tools for all our Supply Connected Partners. No matter their business model, our partners should be able to tailor the use of supply APIs, and/or work in their software of choice as needed, to grow their businesses and provide trusted traveler experiences through our marketplace.

The Supply Onboarding and Maintenance team powers supply partner experiences to list travel products, serving 100+ million requests per day.

Connected partners offering vacation rentals, conventional lodging (i.e. hotels) and other products to travelers are Expedia Group's fastest growing segment, driving almost half of our supply in a multi-billion dollar line of business.

In this role, you will:

  • Be a part of our development team and help our supply connected partners seamlessly onboard their supply on lodging platforms (Vrbo, Expedia Hotels) to provide trusted traveler experience.
  • Solve complex business problems by applying agile development methodology, producing scalable, flexible, efficient, and supportable solutions using appropriate technologies.
  • Research and recommend frameworks and architectural/code design patterns and identify areas of improvement within the code and suggest solutions.
  • Creatively test and maintain software applications and related programs and procedures by using a variety of software development tools following the design requirements of the customer.
  • Enhance a dynamic and close-knit software development team committed to mutual learning through peer code reviews and innovation.
  • Teach and mentor junior developers in project implementation methodology.
  • Advocate for operational excellence (such as testing, establishing SLAs, and programming for resiliency and scalability) making recommendations on team processes.

Experiences and qualifications:

  • You have Bachelor's or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
  • You have strong technical proficiency, capable of problem-solving, applying critical thinking and an understanding of software design principles, algorithms, and data structures.
  • You have experience developing features in full-stack technologies - Javascript, Java/Kotlin, databases.
  • You love all aspects of application development, from brainstorming and design to implementation, launch and support.
  • You have excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence technical decisions.
  • You are excited to pick up, learn and run with new technologies and frameworks such as Node.js, React, GraphQL.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
