IO Interactive seeks a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join their Backbone team. The SDET will be a hybrid developer/QA role, building tools to enhance the functionality, stability, and usability of their Glacier game engine. Responsibilities include collaborating with QA and development teams, championing continuous improvement and DevOps practices, developing test frameworks, and providing early feedback on new features. This role requires proficiency in C# and C++ and a minimum of 3 years of SDET experience on large, complex software projects. The position is based in one of their studios with a hybrid remote option (up to two days a week).

At IO Interactive we are currently looking for a Software Developer in Test (SDET) to become an integral member of our dynamic Backbone team.

We are hiring a hybrid Developer/QA who will build tools to reach the desired level of functionality, stability, and usability of our proprietary Glacier game engine. This is a great opportunity to contribute to thrilling AAA games, including Hitman and a new James Bond game.

As a Software Development Engineer in Test on the Tech QA Team, you will collaborate with QAs and developers working on our cutting-edge Glacier engine. You will play an active role in enhancing the quality of automated tests and ensuring that tools and processes are in place to continually improve quality across the team.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced software development engineer who is naturally inquisitive and has an interest in best practices and QA. You should be comfortable implementing tests and building ad-hoc tools in C# and C++.

This is a permanent position based in one of our studios, with the option to work from home up to two days per week.


What you will do:

  • Collaborate with developers and QA teams to deliver high-quality software.
  • Champion continuous improvement and DevOps practices.
  • Help choose or develop tools and test frameworks to improve the quality of our code.
  • Work closely with developers to provide early feedback about new features and functionality.

Who you are:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a dedicated SDET on large, complex software projects.
  • Proficient in professional development with C++ and C#.
  • Passionate about both testing and software development.
  • An excellent communicator with strong verbal and written skills in English.

Bonus points:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience in game development.
  • Expertise in designing and developing test frameworks.
