We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Summary:

What you need to know about the role-
As the Global Compliance Frontend Engineering Manager at PayPal, you will lead a team of talented frontend and mobile engineers developing critical compliance solutions and bring our compliance user experience to the next level. This role bridges technical expertise with strategic leadership, ensuring our compliance products meet the highest standards of security, performance, and user experience. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple regions to build frontend applications that help PayPal maintain regulatory compliance while delivering exceptional experiences for our customers.

• Lead the development of frontend compliance solutions that serves consumer and merchants across 200+ countries worldwide
• Drive engineering excellence through best practices, code reviews, and mentorship
• Influence product strategy to create compliance tools that balance regulatory requirements with user experience
• Implement scalable frontend architectures that support PayPal's global compliance needs
• Partner with global stakeholders to ensure solutions meet regional compliance requirements
• Foster an inclusive team culture that embraces diverse perspectives and drives innovation

Your day to day

• Manage a team of frontend & mobile engineers, providing technical guidance, career development, and performance feedback
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to define requirements and implementation strategies
• Lead architecture discussions and system design for new compliance applications and features
• Review code, conduct technical design reviews, and ensure engineering standards are maintained
• Partner with compliance subject matter experts to translate regulatory requirements into technical solutions
• Facilitate agile ceremonies and ensure delivery timelines are met
• Communicate progress, challenges, and solutions to senior leadership and stakeholders
• Balance team resources across multiple projects and priorities

What do you need to bring-

Technical Skills:

• Strong experience with modern frontend technologies including React, TypeScript, and Node.js
• Expertise in microservice architecture and system design principles
• Experience with module federation for scalable frontend applications
• Understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
• Knowledge of frontend testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with API integration and RESTful services
• Plus point: Mobile development experience with Swift & Kotlin.

Leadership & Soft Skills:

• 5+ years of engineering management experience, 8+ years in software development
• Excellent stakeholder management abilities across technical and non-technical teams
• Strong project management skills with experience delivering complex projects
• Exceptional communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
• Multi-cultural awareness and experience working with global teams
• Strategic thinking with ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term technical vision
• Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent
• Strong business acumen with the ability to understand how technical decisions impact business outcomes

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years focused on frontend development
• 5+ years in team management role
• Experience in financial services or regulated industries preferred
