Job Description

As a Software Engineer at Expedia Group, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of travel. You'll design, implement, and debug software for computers, translating requirements into code, performing testing and debugging, and ensuring adherence to defined engineering processes. You'll also contribute to design and process improvements, drive technical direction for small to mid-sized projects, and collaborate with various teams to develop and deliver high-quality software solutions. This role involves problem-solving, providing alternative solutions, resolving roadblocks, and completing documentation. You'll actively participate in group technology reviews and contribute to requirements definition. This position may offer the option to telecommute.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5 years of experience in software development
  • Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures
  • Experience with software design, implementation, and debugging
  • Ability to translate requirements into code

In this role you will:

Design, implement, and debug software for computers including algorithms and data structures. Translate requirements into code, complete programming, and perform testing and debugging, and ensure adherence to defined engineering processes. Propose improvements in design and processes. Design, develop, debug, and modify components of software applications and tools. Drive technical direction at the application/product level for small to mid-sized projects. Design, spec, schedule and provide quality implementation of a component or feature (typically 1-3 months in duration). Provide alternative solutions to a given problem. Resolve problems and roadblocks, with management assistance, if required. Follow through on details and drive issues to closure. Complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. Actively participate in group technology reviews to critique work of self and others. Work collaboratively with all members of technical staff. Collaborate with program management and testing peers in the development of assigned components. Participate in and provides input to requirements definition. Provide solid judgment calls and tradeoff analysis. May telecommute. 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field 

  • 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or in a computer-related occupation 

 

  

Pay transparency  

  • The total cash range for this position in San Francisco, California is $206,315 to $ 258,000/year.  

  • Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
