Software Engineer
Position Description
The Client Engineer works on the frontlines of a game development team to create compelling game experiences for our SG products. You will implement, debug, modify and generally support in-game features, development, and operational tools in a timely manner and actively participate in the design of the games.
You will need to have technical skills to operate independently, and the communication and collaboration skills to be an integral and valued team player. At the Software Engineer level, you will need to have the solid skills, experience, and work ethic to succeed as a software engineer, and the desire to learn from your teammates, all while building games that delight our customers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain client-side code for desktop and mobile games in a thorough and timely manner.
- Work on client/server-based applications using a variety of technologies including JavaScript, HTML, CSS etc.
- Identify new tools/improved processes to aid the Development team in delivering new Gaming products.
- Contribute to the development of new/innovative games and different features in a game.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Job Level Description
Works on short-term assignments that often require the application of independent judgment. Fully competent, career-level individual contributor.
Qualifications
Position Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5-8 years of software development experience
- Strong understanding of JavaScript, its quirks, and workarounds
- Experience in Data structures (JavaScript or any programming language)
- Basic understanding of web mark-up, including HTML5 and CSS3
- Experience with development tools including IDEs, debuggers, bug tracking required
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, CVS, SVN.
- Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming techniques and languages.
- Knowledge of advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as AngularJS, jQuery, NodeJS etc.
- Hands on experience on other programming languages such as Java, C++, Python etc
- Familiarity with front-end build tools, such as Grunt
- Distributed application (client/server) development experience
- Game Development experience.
- Experience in UI development and animations.
