Job Description

As a Software Engineer at QS, you will be part of the team updating and enhancing the MoveON SaaS solution. You will write clean code using PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Responsibilities include contributing to product development, collaborating with senior developers, troubleshooting, optimizing performance, and ensuring cross-platform compatibility. The role involves developing back-end portals and optimizing databases.
Must have:
  • Proficiency in PHP web frameworks.
  • Understanding of front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS).
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming.
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Problem-solving and debugging skills.

As a Software Engineer, this is what you’ll be doing:

At QS, we are dedicated to transforming the higher education landscape through our diverse range of products. As part of our software development team, you will play a vital role in updating and enhancing our MoveON SaaS solution, which helps universities to manage global partnerships and streamline the processes that support international student exchanges and other mobility programs.

Role responsibilities: 

The key duties and responsibilities of this role are:

  • Develop and innovate: Write clean, well-structured, and efficient code using PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to advance the MoveON SaaS platform.
  • Contribute to growth: Assist in the development and continuous improvement of our SaaS products, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of global universities.
  • Collaborate and learn: Work with senior developers to contribute to different modules across platforms, enhancing both your technical skills and the product's functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and optimise: Assist in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues within our existing products to ensure smooth operation and seamless user experience.
  • Ensure compatibility: Support cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility to maintain a consistent experience for all users across our diverse product offerings.
  • Optimise performance: Contribute to performance optimization initiatives to reduce loading times and enhance user experience across our platforms.
  • Build and maintain: Develop back-end portals with optimized databases, supporting various user requirements.
  • And any other duties that fall within the scope and purpose of the role.

Key skills and experience:


The following skills, knowledge, experience, and qualifications are required to perform the role:

  • Proficiency in PHP web frameworks such as Laminas or CodeIgniter, with experience in using PHP to build dynamic applications.
  • Understanding of front-end technologies including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with an emphasis on creating engaging and responsive user interfaces.
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming using PHP, enabling you to design modular and maintainable code.
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, alongside familiarity with RESTful APIs and their integration.
  • Problem-solving capabilities with a focus on troubleshooting and debugging effectively
  • Strong commitment to writing clean, maintainable code, and an eye for detail.
  • Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills that facilitate effective teamwork.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently, seeking guidance as needed to achieve goals.
