Job Description

As a Software Engineer on the Google Pay Japan team, you'll design, develop, and launch cutting-edge Google Pay features across various Google products. This role involves both front-end and back-end development, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate eWallets, loyalty programs, and other payment solutions. You'll own projects from prototype to launch, contributing to Google Pay's mission of becoming the leading digital payment platform in the region. Responsibilities include working on multiple Google platforms, developing prototypes, collaborating with cross-functional teams, owning complex projects, and working across teams and locations. The work environment is described as fun, collaborative, and supportive.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2+ years software development experience (Java)
Design and implement full-stack systems
Work with cross-functional teams
Own complex projects end-to-end

Good to have:

Computer Science background (data structures, algorithms, software design)
Payments experience

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g. Java).

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in Computer Science, with data structures, algorithms, and software design.
Experience in designing and implementing full stack systems through its lifecycle.
Experience with payments.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and launching cutting-edge Google Pay features on several Google products. You will work on both front-end and back-end systems, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to integrate eWallets, Loyalty and other payment solutions into Google products. You will own projects end-to-end, from prototype to launch, and contribute to Google Pay's mission of becoming the preferred digital payment platform across the region.

Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.
