OneDrive and SharePoint are rapidly growing Microsoft cloud services. As a Software Engineer II, you'll contribute to large-scale, distributed architectures and features, working with a team of engineers, PMs, and designers. Responsibilities include designing and delivering services that manage internet-scale data stores, enabling best-in-the-world file and site performance, and adding innovative features. You'll write clean, efficient code, build comprehensive tests, and deliver features for hundreds of millions of customers. You'll work with various systems from front-end customer interaction to core system logic and mega-scale storage infrastructure. The role requires collaboration across multiple engineering teams to achieve business goals, adapting to new methodologies and quickly learning new systems.

Overview

OneDrive and SharePoint are rapidly growing services at the center of Microsoft's cloud, interacting with almost every part of Microsoft. You would be a part of a team that is fundamentally changing the way that millions of people use their devices and interact with the most important content for their home, work, and school.

 

We are looking for a Software Engineer II who loves creating and building things that delight and protect our customers. You will be working with a team of amazing engineers, PMs, and designers, and work closely with other teams across Microsoft to deliver large scale, distributed architectures, and features to meet OneDrive and SharePoint's core service needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience coding, debugging, algorithm design and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in delivering and interacting with REST API’s and web services across multiple systems.
  • Experience designing cloud-scale services and server/service management features.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with building cloud-scale infrastructure components.
  • Awareness, passion, and experience related to cloud scale distributed design and patterns.
  • Familiarity with secure software design concepts.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects that include multiple components.
  • Ability and eagerness to work across and partner with multiple engineering teams to achieve business goals.
  • Able to learn new systems quickly and adapt new methodologies to our services.

 

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.

Responsibilities

You will work in large-scale distributed systems that are critical for customers around the world.  You will design and deliver services that manage internet-scale data stores, enable best-in-the-world file and site browsing and editing performance, or add innovative features to how people manage and interact with their data.  Given the scope of OneDrive and SharePoint, we have positions that range from the very front end of how a customer interacts with our services, through core system logic, to mega-scale storage, to background infrastructure to support our services and the engineers that build and maintain them.  Everything you do will be supported by a world-class engineering team.

 

As an Software Engineer II in our team, you will contribute to and help shape the vibrant, inclusive engineering culture of OneDrive & SharePoint.  You will be expected to do deep, data-driven, collaborative design for additions and changes to our products.  You will write clean, efficient code and comprehensive tests.  You will build excellent coverage with metrics and telemetry to ensure we understand exactly what is happening with our services at all times.  And you will deliver features that will support and serve hundreds of millions of customers around the world.
