This Software Engineer III role within Google's Search team focuses on the Discover Metrics Platform. Responsibilities include writing product/system development code, triaging and resolving product/system issues, building new infrastructure intra-day LE metrics, optimizing data generation for LE analysis (e.g., flume pipeline, borg resources, F1 query executions), and expanding and monitoring the framework. The ideal candidate possesses strong Python and data structures/algorithms skills, experience with large-scale infrastructure and distributed systems, and a passion for improving search functionality. Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in Python, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience with the Search or Discover infrastructure full-stack (PIPS, SR, GWS, Muppet, Laelaps, Footprints, Kansas, Logs, etc.).
  • Experience with Search evaluations such as Crust, Human Eval, or SideBySide.
  • Experience in experimental design.
  • Experience with production of large scale distributed systems.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
