Job Description

Google is looking for a Software Engineer III to join their Engineering Productivity team in Google Cloud. You will be responsible for writing product or system development code, participating in design reviews, reviewing code developed by other developers, contributing to documentation, and debugging/resolving product or system issues. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, 2+ years of experience with data structures or algorithms, and experience building developer tools that improve developer velocity, code quality, and code health.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms
  • Write product or system development code
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Review code developed by other developers
  • Contribute to documentation
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/resolve
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields
  • 2 years of experience building developer tools
  • Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience building developer tools that improve developer velocity, code quality and code health (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
