Job Description

The Software Engineer, Stability and Performance will be responsible for ensuring the stability and performance of software applications. The role involves monitoring system health, building infrastructure for monitoring and analysis, and optimizing system performance. The engineer will collaborate with development teams to improve services through testing and release procedures, and create sustainable systems through automation. This role also includes participating in system design, platform management, and capacity planning. The engineer will gather and analyze metrics, and balance feature development with service level objectives. This role requires at least 75 words.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other highly technical, scientific discipline
  • Programing experience for at least 5 years (structured and OO) with one or more high level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and JavaScript
  • Proven experience working with Linux
  • Research skills and ability to understand complex issues
  • A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks
Good to have:
  • Experience with monitoring and related technologies - Grafana, Prometheus, APM
  • Proven knowledge of Mongo internals
  • Past experience working with Redis and Celery

As part of our rapid growth we are looking for a Stability & Performance Engineer to join our team! 

At Axonius, we’re passionate about building software that solves problems. We count on our performance and stability engineers to empower our users with a rich feature set, high availability, and stellar performance level to pursue their missions. As we expand our customer deployments, we are currently seeking experienced stability and performance engineers to deliver insights from massive scale data in real time. Specifically, we are searching for someone who brings fresh ideas, demonstrates a unique and informed viewpoint, and enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world solutions and positive user experiences at every interaction.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
  • Build infrastructure and systems for monitoring and analyzing complex issues
  • Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions
  • Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve
  • Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large distributed software applications

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
  • Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures
  • Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
  • Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other highly technical, scientific discipline
  • Programing experience for at least 5 years (structured and OO) with one or more high level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and JavaScript
  • Proven experience working with Linux
  • Research skills and ability to understand complex issues
  • A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks
  • Ability to come into the NYC office at least 1 day a week

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with monitoring and related technologies - Grafana, Prometheus, APM
  • Proven knowledge of Mongo internals 
  • Past experience working with Redis and Celery
