Job Description

Facebook is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead and grow our product engineering teams. This role requires a deep understanding of product development, strong technical expertise, and proven leadership skills. You will be responsible for defining and driving product strategy, leading a team of engineers to deliver high-impact projects, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to achieve optimal outcomes. Your ability to effectively recruit, manage, and develop talented engineers is crucial to the success of this role.

Must have:

5+ years software engineering experience
Hands-on technical management
Experience building web-based software solutions
API design expertise
Experience managing technical teams
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Proven ability to define and execute product strategy

Good to have:

Experience with C++, Java, Python, or PHP
Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment
Experience with cloud technologies
Experience with data analysis and data science

Software Engineering Manager, Product Responsibilities

Be both highly technical and an effective people manager

Be a subject matter expert in a product domain

Lead teams that deliver on multiple projects of increasing dependencies in an ambiguous or high-impact area

Work with your team and cross functional partners to define and influence strategy

Drive roadmap creation and execution

Collaborate with various functions, drive engineering initiatives and have an impact at an organizational level

Participate in technical design

Measure the impact of your team and set clear expectations and goals

Work effectively with cross functional partners and stakeholders to set and achieve optimal outcomes

Partner with leadership to influence and drive org design, contribution and prioritization

Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering work experience, including hands-on technical management building holistic web based software solution, API design, and interactions between servers and clients

5+ years experience coding in one of the following languages: C++, Java, Python and/or PHP

Demonstrated experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management

BA/BS in Computer Science (In lieu of degree, 4+ years work experience)
