Job Description

FICO is seeking an engineer to join their software quality assurance team to help evolve their Platform Orchestration product. The role involves providing leadership to the QA team, guiding automation architecture and best practices, and contributing to software quality assurance input for project plans and schedules. Responsibilities include performing code reviews, owning the quality strategy for APIs and UI features automation, integrating automation into release pipelines, and creating formal documentation. The engineer will also support other QA staff, investigate and recreate problems, and communicate product readiness and quality results. Must have:
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 8-12 years of experience in software quality engineering
  • At least 3 years in a technical leadership role
  • Expert-level JavaScript programming knowledge
  • Proficient in Java or TypeScript for test automation
  • Prior experience with API integration testing using RESTAssured
  • Practical experience in front-end and WebDriverIO, Cypress, Playwright automation
  • Experience in designing, developing, and enhancing automation frameworks
  • Ability to identify, estimate, develop, and execute test scenarios
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Quality-driven work ethic with meticulous attention to detail
  • High levels of curiosity to probe for potential software defects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good to have:
  • Exposure to tools and frameworks like Selenium, Cucumber, and Cypress
  • Experience automating canvas-based elements (e.g., drag/drop, drawing tools, zoom/pan events)
  • Prior experience with test management tools such as qTest
  • Exposure to the Angular UI framework

The Opportunity

"We are seeking an engineer to join our software quality assurance team to assist in the continuing evolution of our Platform Orchestration product. You will be able to demonstrate the required potential and technical curiosity to work on software that utilizes a range of leading-edge technologies and integration frameworks. What You’ll Contribute

  • Provide leadership to the QA team; guide automation architecture and best practices.

  • Provide software quality assurance input to project plans, schedules, and software designs.

  • Perform code reviews of test scripts, ensure maintainability and scalability.

  • Own the quality strategy for APIs & canvas heavy UI features automation – from story grooming to final release validation.

  • Interface with Dev and DevOps to ensure automation is tightly integrated into release pipelines.

  • Create and maintain formal documentation during all stages of test development and execution.

  • Support other QA staff in the team when dealing with test challenges, problems related to testing approaches, areas of application functionality, or specific technical knowledge.

  • Investigate and recreating problems, and finding solutions for users to continue their work.

  • Communicate product readiness, level of quality, and results to the Development Manager and the other members of the product team.

What We’re Seeking

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • 8-12 years of experience in software quality engineering with at least 3 years in technical leadership role.

  • Expert-level JavaScript programming knowledge.

  • Proficient in programming languages for test automation such as Java or TypeScript.

  • Prior experience with API integration testing using RESTAssured.

  • Practical experience in front-end & WebDriverIO, Cypress, Playwright automation.

  • Exposure to tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber and Cypress.

  • Experience in the design, development, and enhancement of an automation framework.
