In this position, you will be part of the IS/IT department. The IS/IT department is a team of 170 highly skilled and motivated professionals. We have embraced the Agile way of working and have 18 squads working in DevOps mode providing IT services to our 3500 Thales Netherlands colleagues. IS/IT is at the core of the Thales digital transformation, there is a close relationship between IS/IT and business.

We aim to deliver best in class IT solutions to our Thales Netherlands colleagues. This is done within our agile IT teams who work in close interaction with the colleagues in the business. For the relatively new Collaboration squad we are looking for a Solution Architect. This squad is responsible for a broad variety of products and services related to collaboration. Your new squad is also part of the Collaboration tribe within Thales group. The tribe is responsible for the Collaboration platforms within Thales. 

The Solution Architect Collaboration works on the architecture and solutions for our environments and applications together with the Enterprise Architect(s), other Solutions Architects and Security department. 

About the job
Your typical day starts with a brief standup with the squad in which you update each other and define actions. During standups squad members discuss what went well, what could be improved and where they still need help. Afterwards, take your time with a cup of coffee to work on some e-mails and questions. Then, it is time to work on solutions and architecture within the Collaboration domain. 

As a Solution Architect for the collaboration squad you can help the team with finding solutions related to collaboration tools that are used within Thales. This includes applications such as Microsoft Exchange, Cisco Ironport, OpenText(ECM), Atlassian Confluence, Microsoft Teams and VOIP Telephony. You help architect, challenge, and provide leadership to standardize, modernize and digitalize our IS/IT collaboration environments and applications landscape.

Your contribution to the squad:

• Understand end-to-end business requirements and translate these to IS/IT solutions;
• Validate technical designs with the security department, enterprise architects and other architects;
• Describe and decide how the solutions and processes will look like and how they interact with each other using modelling tools and techniques;
• Take the lead in the maintenance, improvement and development of IS/IT solutions;
• Implement / refine / explore enablers from the architectural runway;
• Collaborate with other architects & Thales Group and exchange best practices & tools.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends and determine their applicability and potential value to your domain.
• Ability to read high-level architecture designs and translate these into low-level designs.
• Provide recommendations to address potential threats.
• Implement technical ways of working and guidelines to ensure a proper roll-out of solutions by the engineers.

About you 
We are looking for a colleague who:

• Has a (technical) bachelor or master degree;  
• Has proven experience (>5 years) as a solution architect, preferably within a similar domain;
• Has a positive mindset, responsible, decisive, analytical and result-oriented;
• Is assertive and thorough.
• Has an understanding of Architectural Frameworks (e.g. TOGAF).
• Is an excellent planner and works well in a dynamic environment;
• Has strong social and communication skills;
• Is flexible, stress-resistant and organizationally strong. 
• Is fluent in English and Dutch.

Additional qualities

• Experience working in an Agile environment is a big plus;
• A team player that will work well in a cross functional team environment;
• Work experience as a workplace engineer to better support your team with their work would help you greatly in this position.

De Solution Architect Collaboration werkt samen met de Enterprise Architect(en), andere Solution Architects en de beveiligingsafdeling aan de architectuur en oplossingen voor onze omgevingen en applicaties.

Over de functie
Je typische werkdag begint met een korte stand-up met het team waarin je elkaar bijpraat en acties definieert. Tijdens de stand-ups bespreken teamleden wat goed ging, wat verbeterd kan worden en waar ze nog hulp bij nodig hebben. Daarna neem je even de tijd met een kop koffie om aan wat e-mails en vragen te werken. Vervolgens is het tijd om aan oplossingen en architectuur binnen het Collaboration domein te werken.

Als Solution Architect voor de Collaboration squad kun je het team helpen bij het vinden van oplossingen met betrekking tot samenwerkingsapplicaties die binnen Thales worden gebruikt. Dit omvat applicaties zoals Microsoft Exchange, Cisco Ironport, OpenText (ECM), Atlassian Confluence, Microsoft Teams en VOIP oplossingen. Je helpt bij het ontwerpen, uitdagen en bieden van leiderschap om onze IS/IT-collaboration omgevingen en applicatielandschap te standaardiseren, moderniseren en digitaliseren.

Jouw bijdrage aan het team:

• Begrijp de end-to-end businessvereisten en vertaal deze naar IS/IT-oplossingen;
• Valideer technische ontwerpen met de beveiligingsafdeling, enterprise architecten en andere architecten;
• Beschrijf en besluit hoe de oplossingen en processen eruitzien en hoe ze met elkaar interactie hebben met behulp van modelleertools en -technieken;
• Neem de leiding in het onderhoud, de verbetering en de ontwikkeling van IS/IT-oplossingen;
• Implementeer/ verfijn/ verken de enablers van de architecturale runway;
• Werk samen met andere architecten & de Thales Groep en wissel best practices & tools uit.
• Blijf op de hoogte van opkomende technologieën en trends en bepaal hun toepasbaarheid en potentiële waarde voor jouw domein.
• Vermogen om hoog-niveau architectuurontwerpen te lezen en deze te vertalen naar laag-niveau ontwerpen.
• Geef aanbevelingen om potentiële bedreigingen aan te pakken.
• Implementeer technische werkwijzen en richtlijnen om een goede uitrol van oplossingen door de engineers te waarborgen.

Over jou 
We zijn op zoek naar een collega die:

• Een (technische) bachelor- of masterdiploma heeft;
• Bewezen ervaring (>5 jaar) heeft als solution architect, bij voorkeur binnen een vergelijkbaar domein;
• Een positieve instelling heeft, verantwoordelijk, besluitvaardig, analytisch en resultaatgericht is; 
• Assertief en grondig is. 
• Begrip heeft van architecturale kaders (bijv. TOGAF). 
• Een uitstekende planner is en goed functioneert in een dynamische omgeving; 
• Sterke sociale en communicatieve vaardigheden heeft; 
• Flexibel, stressbestendig en organisatorisch sterk is. 
• Vloeiend is in het Nederlands en Engels.

Extra kwaliteiten

• Ervaring met werken in een Agile omgeving is een grote plus; 
• Een teamspeler die goed functioneert in een cross-functionele teamomgeving;
• Werkervaring als werkplekengineer om jouw team beter te ondersteunen in hun werk zou je enorm helpen in deze functie.
