BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: * Performs autonomous system functional test and analysis to determine and judge appropriate system requirement * Performs system and component measurements on engine test rigs or vehicles at the customer site. Within the procedure of System Performance Test he is responsible for test preparation, installation of sensors and test equipment on test engine, programming of the ROTEC system, performing the tests, data post-processing and documentation and delivery to the responsible System Engineer * Is responsible for availability and functioning of test equipment and for precaution maintainance or repair * Participates in corrective and preventive actions as a project team member for assigned problem in close cooperation with the responsible System Engineer * Has to fullfill a supporting role in the process of executing system testing guidelines and efficiency improvement actions for system test equipment, performance, data analysis and reporting. QUALITY RELATED FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensures that all company, industry and specifically all TQM Tools, DIN/ISO 9000, QS 9000 quality standards (or the customer specific quality standards) and the relevant departmental procedures are followed at all times with proper documentation. POSITION DIMENSIONS (Scope - e.g. reporting structure, personnel responsibility, decision making authority, budget responsibility): * Works as external field technician on high level of self-initiative and independency on customer sides. * Works on independent assignments under System Engineer direction. * Reports to Systems Engineering Manager on regular base. CONTACTS (internal/external frequency, level, nature): * Regular and close interface with responsible System Engineer for system test arrangements * Regular and close interface with responsible inhouse Technician Sensor-Support and Calibration for test equipment maintainance. OTHER (travel, working conditions, unusual work schedules): * Will spend up to 75% of working time for external at customer site for system test preparation, performance and travel * Will spend approx. 25% of working time locally in office/lab for test preparation, postprocessing and test equipment maintainance * Working hours are adapted to business needs. Extra hours may be required as needed to fullfill project requirements. 2 SKILLS (manual, self expression, planning, organizing). * Must be capable of planning, organizing and release system performance test in field outside local engineering team independently and against deadlines * Must have common sense and logic to be able to handle sensitive sensors and test equipment. * Able to understand test requirements and goals to effectively transfer them into system test procedure accordingly * Must have analytical technical skills for problem solving actions during test performance * Must have excellent communication skills to be able to work effectively with local engineering team * Very good understanding of test techniques, including measurement of mechanical vibration, and instrumentation * Must have a good knowledge of spoken and written English * Must be able to represent Gates on customer site in his area.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE (minimum requirement). * Requires a Bachelor degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation and a minimum of 3-5 years experience within the automotive field or equivalent experience preferably in power transmission componentry * Experience with use of test technology as test sensors as well electronic data proceedings are necessary * Must be capable to work with standard Windows Office appications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
