As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving essential API services that support the financial data ecosystem, while aiding in the modernization of our architecture to facilitate expansion into European markets. Your role involves shaping the future of the platform by implementing scalable solutions across regions, enhancing user experiences, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. You will contribute to architecture designs, product roadmaps, and code reviews, while collaborating with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders. The role involves building and scaling API services for a growing European customer base, advancing financial models, and contributing to an expanding cross-functional organization in the Edinburgh office.
Must have:
  • Degree in a STEM field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience building backend services in a professional environment.
  • Understanding of HTTP, REST, and web API best practices.
  • Experience building services with Java, MySQL, Elasticsearch, and AWS.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of development best practices and experience in an agile team.

The Role

We're seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to our Portfolio Data Workflows (UK) team. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining and evolving critical API services that power our financial data ecosystem, while helping to modernize our architecture to support our expansion into European markets. You'll have the opportunity to shape the future of our platform by implementing robust solutions that scale across multiple regions, enhance user experiences, and ensure compliance with European and international financial regulations. This position offers exceptional scope for technical leadership in transforming how our global clients interact with and leverage financial data.

What You’ll Do

Build and scale API services to support our rapidly growing European customer baseAdvance our financial models to support a wide range of advanced financial products, such as structured notes, derivatives, and international alternative investmentsContribute to architecture designs, product roadmap, and code reviews.Collaborate effectively with other engineers, product managers and stakeholders, in line with our company values outlined in the About Addepar section.Be part of an expanding cross-functional organization in our growing Edinburgh office.

Who You Are

  • Degree in a STEM field, such as Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience in the industry.
  • Experience building backend services in a professional environment
  • Understanding of HTTP, REST and web API best practices. 
  • Experience building services with Java, Mysql, Elasticsearch, and AWS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of development best practices and experience working in an agile team.
  • Interest or experience in the financial industry or wealth management in particular
