We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Description Summary:

As a Senior Content Designer, you’ll be a key driver of content strategy and editorial quality for multiple cross-functional product delivery teams, leading a team of Content Designers. At PayPal, Content Designers work side by side with UX Designers, Product Managers, and Researchers to create user experiences that empower people and businesses around the world. You’ll be a leader on the team, and responsible for leading content design at a higher level, influencing company-wide content strategies, and ensuring consistency and quality across multiple projects or the entire product suite.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create content strategies and systems that the team can use to be more efficient and consistent in the way we work. Oversee large-scale content initiatives and might be involved in setting long-term content goals and strategies. Provide thought leadership and advocate for best practices in content design across the organization.

  • Inspire the team to evangelize for our customers, develop the information they need, determine when and how best to communicate with them, and how to do so with a trusted voice that makes them feel cared for and understood.

  • Help define the vision for content design and often be involved in high-level stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and cross-departmental collaboration.

  • Drive the definition of a clear and actionable strategic direction for content in your product area. Team leads are accountable for sharing and delivering on these strategies.

  • Work with your partners to make sure content is implemented to deliver against the strategy and to PayPal standards.

  • Use data and customer feedback to measure the effectiveness and of the content strategy and pivot as needed in real time.

  • Work with the Content Foundations team to define, develop, and implement content strategy frameworks, toolkits and guidelines, with the aim of developing world-class experiences at scale.

  • Coordinate content with Brand, Marketing and Operations teams to ensure we create a consistent end-to-end experience.

  • Use data and research to evaluate your content’s impact, and push for continuous improvement that shows real results.

  • Be an arbiter of best practices in grammar, messaging, terminology, writing, and style.

  • Reach across disciplines and departments to demonstrate how content can be used to create lasting and meaningful relationships with our customers. AI is a big part of our future, so ideas and curiosity around this is greatly appreciated.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience writing for multiple channels and platforms, such as
    websites, apps, email, and social media. You know how and when to use a particular medium.

  • Highly experienced professional with a proven track record of delivering high-impact content solutions and strategic insights. Experience operating at a strategic level, guiding content design practices and vision across broader organizational contexts.

  • Some experience managing or mentoring writers.

  • You’re a customer-driven driver of change. You see products and solutions as part of a customer’s larger journey and you seek to deeply understand that journey through research and data analysis. You will find solutions vs. waiting for them.

  • You understand brand and marketing methodologies, but your real expertise is using design thinking in service of creating great products.

  • You have a track record of positioning content as an engagement tool that transforms customer relationships.

  • You have a history of knocking down organizational obstacles and building sustaining frameworks and partnerships. You are a strong influencer and someone who is comfortable taking the driver’s seat.

  • Experience in financial services, payments, B2B or B2C e-commerce is preferred.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Design, Information Science or related field preferred. Interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning is a huge bonus.

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is

$82500 to $187990
