Position Summary
Illumina is currently hiring for a highly capable hands-on technical manager to lead our IT team for the Greater China region in the Shanghai office. In this role, you will primarily be responsible to provide IT infrastructure support and act as a business liaison between IT and Greater China Commercial and Manufacturing business units. This position will need to be the IT technical subject matter expert for IT Infrastructure and networking and also lead a regional team. You will need to be a self-starter and do well with minimal direction and seek opportunities for improvement for improvement.
The ideal candidate will understand technology’s intersection with the business and will work in an environment that is collaborative, innovative, fun, and build relationships with stakeholders along the way.
Responsibilities
- Be a champion for change; always pushing iterative improvement
- Act as a liaison between local leadership and GIS management to relay business needs
- Take ownership of tasks and projects, ensuring they are completed efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision
- Provide and oversee infrastructure and end-user support for local Greater China offices
- Collaborate closely with global IT teams to determine the maintenance and growth of IT needs for the Greater China region.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to confirm these requirements will support the business initiatives
- Project manage and collaborate with other global IT teams to deliver a reusable, manageable and scalable solution to these requirements
- Liaise with other IT Subject Matter Experts to stay up to date with the latest applications and features
- Ensure that all vendor management activities comply with internal policies and external regulations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of vendor agreements, performance metrics, and related activities
- Create and maintain budgets for various projects and departments and ensure that budgets are aligned with organizational goals and financial constraints
- Report against service levels by measuring how successful the team performs against key performance metrics
- Collaborate with managed service partners for tier 1 and remote office support to ensure seamless service delivery.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese including the ability to take something complex and present it in a way that is easy to understand
- Need to have hands-on system and network administration experience
- Excellent customer engagement and communication skills
- Proven ability to build and manage teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- cFDA, FDA or regulated systems experience is preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Adaptability to rapidly changing environments and technology
- Experience presenting findings and challenges to senior executives
Experience/Education
- Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree with at least 8+ years’ experience leading System & Network Management/Business Analysis and/or Project Management
- Overall knowledge of most areas within corporate functions or sub-function
