Job Summary:

Hulu is seeking a Sr. Manager of Publicity to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing impactful publicity campaigns that generate buzz and awareness across Hulu’s growing slate of scripted and unscripted programming. In addition to being a specialist in their field, the right candidate is passionate, thrives in a fast-paced environment, is a self-starter, and can creatively problem-solve, as necessary. To achieve success in this position, strong communication skills, a sharp focus for details, and existing relationships with key industry press contacts are critical qualifications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee results-driven publicity campaigns across all genres (drama, comedy, unscripted/documentaries), utilizing both traditional and forward-thinking tactics.
  • Pitch and secure national and local press coverage for projects across TV/broadcast, radio/podcast, and print/online media.
  • Create series positioning and messaging for producers, talent, and TWDC executives.
  • Work in lockstep with internal teams including Marketing, Social and Creative, as well as other lines of business across TWDC to align on campaign strategy and execution to deliver on KPIs.
  • Collaborate with external partners (talent reps, producers, studio partners, agencies, etc.) and effectively communicate your POV and strategy.
  • Orchestrate and support media relations efforts at special events, red carpets, press junkets, festivals, Upfront, etc.
  • Manage budget allocations for assigned campaigns.
  • Some business travel may be required.
     

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in publicity at an agency, network or studio.
  • Strong knowledge of the PR field – experience in media relations, communications strategy, press campaign development and execution, and talent relations. 
  • Established relationships and network of TV entertainment media (consumer and trade), talent bookers, tastemakers, studio partners and talent reps.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills - ability to interact with talent/reps and key internal stakeholders professionally and effectively. 
  • Reliable team-player with a proven track record as a self-starter, problem-solver, and leader.
  • Detail oriented with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of FYC/Awards campaigning.
  • A curiosity for identifying fresh ways of doing things to improve business operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Google Workspace.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Television publicity experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior leadership/management experience.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree.


The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, CA is $111,000 to $152,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
