Job Description

As a Sr. Software Development Manager, you will assess, design, develop, configure, and implement application/infrastructure solutions to meet business requirements and customer expectations. You will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure solutions drive desired business results. This role involves leading the development of an API Middleware Application with Java, mentoring team members, driving Agile development practices, completing code reviews, and supporting change and release management. You will also provide application support, including on-call support, and identify and communicate potential solution risks. You will also be responsible for preparing documentation for operational teams. OLG is looking for someone passionate about leading the way for world class gaming entertainment.

​​Sr Software Development Manager​

We are ready to take this game to the next level and need a passionate ​​Sr Software Development Manager​ to assess, design, develop, configure, and implement the application/infrastructure solutions to support the business requirements to meet customer expectations. Collaborates with stakeholders across OLG to ensure that the application/infrastructure solution designs and developments drive the desired business results. 

 

YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME 

 

Reporting to the Technology Product Owner, you will be empowered to:  

  • Lead the development of an API Middleware Application creating REST APIs with Java in accordance to business requirements 

  • Mentor team members and advise on potential tech stack or development process enhancements  

  • Drive the adoption of Agile development practices including continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) 

  • Complete code reviews ensuring maintainable, scalable and efficient code. 

  • Develop and deploy proof of concepts, prototypes and evaluate opportunities to leverage agile methodologies and tools 

  • Support the change and release management process (ITIL) including defining release strategy & associated task planning for change projects, service readiness & acceptance and service transition 

  • Provide tier two (2) and three (3) application support, including on call support as required to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner 

  • Identify potential solution risks/issues and escalates/communicates to relevant key stakeholders (business/technology/vendors) to ensure a mitigation strategy is developed 

  • Prepare documentation and other relevant information to transition to the operate team for business as usual 

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO PLAY 

 

Work Experience: Minimum six (10) years’ progressive experience in medium to large Technology environments including experience in Technology or related function Minimum of three (8) years' experience in solution development and/or delivery  

 

Education: Post-secondary degree, preferably in an information system or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience 

 

Primary Knowledge:   Java Development GITHub Source Code Management CI/CD - Octopus Deploy Agile Development Practices MicroServices Design   DevSecOps Open API Specifications Middleware Software Approaches SQL Server DBMS Rest API Practices     

 

Secondary Knowledge System and Technology Integration Cloud Computing & Architecture Patterns
