Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience with one or more optical technologies such as long-haul DWDM systems or submarine systems.
- Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with network equipment manufacturer or network operator in engineering or design role.
- Experience with planning and designing networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products, etc.).

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Define requirements and identify technologies for scaling Google’s terrestrial and subsea network in a cost-efficient and operationally streamlined manner.
- Engage with external vendors and internal teams to operationalize stable, scalable platforms.
- Lead efforts to anticipate long-term technology trends and collaborate with vendors to develop innovative technology solutions.
- Work with network design, deployment, and operations teams to deliver high performance, reliable, scalable platforms and optical designs.
- Develop tools and processes for automation of network design, management and operations.
