Job Description

As a Staff Software Engineer at Infoblox, you will be responsible for designing and developing software features for our next-generation DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (DDI) services. You will utilize your experience and creativity to influence technology direction and decisions, while ensuring that our products are best-of-breed. You will work in an Agile/Scrum development methodology and collaborate with peer engineers in a highly collaborative environment. You will also be involved in benchmarking, optimizing, and fine-tuning software performance, as well as handling customer escalations and debugging issues to fix bugs.
Must have:
  • 12+ years of experience in software development in Python and C programming
  • Solid systems background and knowledge of Linux kernel and OS internals
  • Excellent network, socket, and multi-threaded programming
  • Superb development and problem-solving skills
  • In-depth working knowledge Linux platform services, performance analysis
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, OSPF, BGP, IPv6, DHCP, and DNS protocol
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Good to have:
  • Experience working in DNS and DHCP protocols
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere and vCloud Director
  • Experience in micro services architecture and container-based software using Docker
  • Experience in Agile methodologies with software development life-cycle experience
  • Master’s degree

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Engineering team located in Burnaby, BC, reporting to the senior director of Engineering. In this role, you will develop features for Infoblox’s next-generation DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (DDI) services. What you’ll do:

  • Design and develop software for Enterprise & Service Provider solutions using C, Linux and Python 
  • Develop unit and functional tests for continuous integration and continuous deployment in a modern CI/CD environment
  • Work in an Agile/Scrum development methodology to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and test 
  • Partner with peer engineers in a highly collaborative environment
  • Benchmark, optimize, and fine-tune software performance 
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to investigate and fix defect
  • Handle customer escalations and debug issues to fix bugs 

What you’ll bring

  • 12+ years of experience in software development in Python and C programming in a Linux or Unix environment
  • Solid systems background and knowledge of Linux kernel and OS internals, GNU toolchain, and debugger knowledge 
  • Excellent network, socket, and multi-threaded programming required; experience working in DNS and DHCP protocols is a plus
  • Superb development and problem-solving skills are require
  • In-depth working knowledge Linux platform services, performance analysis, and in kernel level debugging using gdb and other tools 
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, OSPF, BGP, IPv6, DHCP, and DNS protocol
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere and vCloud Director is a plus 
  • Experience in micro services architecture and container-based software using Docker and other container technologies is a plus
  • Experience in Agile methodologies with software development life-cycle experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required, master’s degree preferred

Please keep in mind that the range mentioned is the base salary range for the role. The typical base salary range for this position based in the province of British Columbia is $129,900 - $195,800 plus a corporate bonus.
