Meet Our Team:
As a Staff Software Developer on Warner Bros. Discovery’s C++ player team, you will build and support client-side components for our streaming video applications including our flagship product, Max. You will develop the client-side player experience, including backend services and core media integrations, user interface, telemetry, and playback resiliency to deliver a top-tier viewing experience to our customers. You will work with cross-disciplinary teams to continuously deliver incremental value. You will join a growing team with many opportunities to expand your skillset, including your ability to design, implement, and own critical features in a product used by millions of customers. You will have access to experienced engineers in the streaming space as mentors, as well as be a mentor and strong technical resources to those around you.
Roles & Responsibilities:

Influence the technical agenda for your team and own critical features of a product used by millions of customers.
Work across teams and disciplines to explore and document technical solutions that evaluate technical tradeoffs using the latest streaming media technologies and video capabilities.
Take part in regular team ceremonies to improve development, test, and operational practices.
Mentor other engineers to help them grow their careers.
Use data to solve real world problems and improve customer experience, including prioritization of incoming issues reported by customers, partners, and internal QA.
What to Bring:
A deep understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, and operating systems.
9 to 13 years of experience in a modern programming language, preferably C++17.
Skills in designing and consuming APIs for client library and backend service integrations.
Experience implementing dynamic user experiences including smooth, responsive user interfaces and error handling.
Adept at analyzing and profiling systems to find the root cause of issues and optimization opportunities.
Passion for software engineering with a strong sense of ownership for the code that you and your team write, and a desire to become an expert in client-side video technology.
Enhance the productivity of your team through clear communication, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and driving technical decisions.
Be a self-starter that can solve complex engineering problems with input from various stakeholders.
Seek self-improvement and adapt to suggestions and feedback.
Hold yourself and your team to high standards while maintaining respectful relationships.
Ability to provide periodic on-call support for critical emergent customer-facing issues.
BS degree in Computer Science, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience.
The Nice to Have:
3+ years in software engineering on shipped consumer products or platforms
User interface development, particularly with complex and dynamic UI
Automated testing at the unit, integration, system, and UI levels
Git source version control and GitHub.
Media technology (e.g. ExoPlayer, AVFoundation, HTML5 video)
Streaming technology (e.g. DASH, HLS)
DRM systems (e.g. FairPlay, Widevine, PlayReady)
Device platforms (e.g. Android, UWP, set-top box)
Video telemetry
