Job Description

This Staff Software Engineer role focuses on Google's Content Safety Platform. Responsibilities include providing technical leadership on high-impact projects, influencing and coaching a distributed team, facilitating alignment across teams, managing project priorities and deadlines, and designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale software solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development, testing, launching products, and software design/architecture. The role involves working within a complex, matrixed organization on cross-functional projects and contributing to the technical foundation of Google's flagship products. This position requires a deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and large-scale system design.
Must have:
  • 8+ years software development experience
  • Data structures/algorithms expertise
  • 5+ years in testing and launching software
  • 3+ years in software design and architecture
  • Technical leadership skills
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Experience leading project teams
  • Experience in complex, matrixed organizations

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
