Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work – we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you'd be doing in this role
As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA – but we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you a flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:
• Designing and implementing data development tooling that improves productivity for thousands of data workers.
• Leading major architectural initiatives to improve security, governance, and infrastructure scalability.
• Creating a developer-friendly data platform environment with AI-accelerated workflows and infrastructure-as-code.
• Driving initiatives such as jurisdictional data segregation and attribute-based access controls.
• Partnering with teams across Canva to align platform capabilities with real-world use cases.
• Mentoring engineers and embedding top-tier engineering practices within the Data Platform group.

You're probably a match if
• You’re a developer experience advocate with strong Python and Kubernetes expertise.
• You’ve built infrastructure-as-code systems and cloud-native features at scale.
• You understand how to bake security and governance into systems without compromising usability.
• You love translating ambiguity into clarity and have a vision for scalable, self-service systems.
• You’re a natural mentor, communicator, and problem solver who thrives in dynamic environments.
• You’re passionate about empowering others and building tools that make the complex simple.

About the team
You’ll be joining the Data Developer Experience Team within the Data Platform Group.
The group’s mission? To enable significant, scalable, and sustainable value via data and insights, by building a world-class data platform. The Developer Experience team focuses on making the lives of Canva’s data developers easier – from tooling to infrastructure, security to governance. It’s an exciting time to join, as we supercharge the platform experience with AI, security innovation, and scale-ready frameworks.
