This Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack role at Google Ads requires 8+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years in full-stack development (Java, Python, GO, C++, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS). Responsibilities include providing technical leadership on high-impact projects, influencing and coaching a distributed team, managing project priorities, and designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale software solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience with software design and architecture, testing, and launching software products. Experience in a complex, matrixed organization and a technical leadership role are preferred.
Must have:
  • 8+ years software development experience
  • 5+ years full-stack development experience
  • 5+ years testing and launching software
  • 3+ years software design and architecture
  • Proficient in Java, Python, GO, C++, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in related field
  • 3+ years technical leadership
  • 3+ years in a complex, matrixed organization

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience with full stack development, across the back-end such as Java, Python, GO, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, etc.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
