137 Ewes Productions, an animation studio featuring animal characters, is offering a Summer 2025 Internship for a Storyboard Artist. This opportunity, occurring every two years, runs from June 16th to August 22nd, 2025, with an application deadline of March 10th, 2025. Interns will be assigned to either an animated shorts team or a team developing a full 22-minute episode. Responsibilities include drafting sequences for character sketches, creating rough beat boards/thumbnails, refining drafts, visually expressing character emotions, breaking down action scenes, and producing a full animatic of assigned scenes. The role requires attending weekly meetings.
Must have:
- Proficiency in perspectives, camera angles, shot types
- Understanding of animation and composition principles
- Strong draftsmanship/drawing skills
- Knowledge of human poses and bipedal actions
- Understanding of animal behaviors/emotions
- Experience with ToonBoom Storyboard Pro
- Effective time management
- Creativity in composition and storytelling
- Ability to take and implement feedback
- Rising Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or MFA student in Storyboarding, Sequential Art, or Animation
Good to have:
- Passion for learning animal behaviors
- Storytelling ability from a narrative point of view
- Experience in writing screenplays or designing beats

137 Ewes Productions is a wildly new animation studio that primarily features animals as our main characters. We are incredibly excited to find out more about our characters and world through working with you.
The MOST EXCITING internship is back after two years! We had a great run in Summer 2023 with 20 dedicated summer interns. Recently, we learned and celebrated one of our summer 2023 interns getting into the Artist Program at Nickelodeon!
Due to our stories, and our indie studio nature, we can only run this internship every two years. So GET ON this opportunity this year.

Responsibilities
You will be assigned EITHER to the animated shorts team
OR to the team that will create an entire 22 min episode in development.
- Use your unique understanding of how action works in a visual storytelling environment to draft sequences for one or more character sketches
- Rough beat boards / thumbnails
- Refined Drafts / Detailed Panels
- Ruminate on how to visually bring characters alive through their emotions when delivering dialogue in dialogue heavy scenes
- Deliberate and break down action scenes
- Rough beat boards / thumbnails

- Full Animatic of the scene assigned to you by end of internship (~3 minutes minimum, 5 minutes standard expectation)
- Ability to attend weekly meetings (twice a week)
Qualifications
- Good grasp of perspectives, camera angles, and various shot types in film and animation
- Thorough understanding of animation principles, composition principles
- Strong draftsmanship / drawing skills
- Strong grasp of human poses, bipedal actions
- Great understanding of , animal behaviors, actions, and/or passion to want to learn
- Great understanding of various emotions and how to express them in thumbnail fashion
- Experience using ToonBoom Storyboard Pro
- Time Management ability to complete assignments on time
- Wild creativity to stretch your imagination in composition, rhythm, lighting to enhance the story you are assigned to
- Unique perspectives shown through your portfolio
- Effective at taking notes on feedback and implementing verbal, written, and/or draw-over feedback
- Storytelling ability from a narrative point of view a PLUS (this means you have experience in writing Screenplays, designing beats, and able to tell / plan a story from beginning to end)
- Be a rising Sophomore, Junior, Senior in a BFA program, ideally in Storyboarding, Sequential Art, and/or Animation. OR in an enrolled MFA program of similar degree: Storyboarding / Sequential Art / Animation [You must verify you are enrolled after internship acceptance or we need to rescind the offer]
- Since our summer internships are designed for learning, working with people across cultures, you can reside ANYWHERE during the summer.
- Applications outside of USA are super welcome, as long as you have conversational English capability, so that you can co-work with other interns
- Visas are not required; BUT enrollment in school is required
