Job Description

As a Data Center Strategic Negotiator, you'll work with the Site Acquisition and Development team to identify locations and sites for self-developed data centers. You'll establish agreements and build relationships with landowners, government officials, and utility companies. Responsibilities include leading negotiations for purchase and service agreements, managing compliance issues, developing site/infrastructure strategies, and tracking milestones. You will work with internal and external technical teams to identify, define, and pursue new site selection or expansion projects and initiatives necessary to meet Google's ongoing data center needs, including the procurement of infrastructure for existing and new sites. You will lead the development of strategic agreements with vendors, landowners, and key suppliers for space and utility services. You will also implement strategy to enable ongoing growth at existing sites and develop metrics to map, track, and lead a broad range of portfolio management issues regarding site/infrastructure development.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years project management or agreement support experience
  • Real estate agreement negotiation experience
  • Real estate development, acquisition, and site selection experience
  • Lead negotiations with vendors and landowners
  • Develop site/infrastructure strategies and track milestones
Good to have:
  • Experience with power transmission, telecommunications, data center technology
  • Experience in indirect taxes, economic development policy, agreement drafting

Job Details


Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience managing projects or supporting the planning and development of agreements.
  • Experience negotiating or supporting the negotiation of bilateral real estate agreements of varying sizes, timelines, and scale.
  • Experience in real estate development, evaluation, acquisition, and site selection for industrial-scale projects.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time as required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with power transmission and distribution, telecommunications infrastructure, data center technology, industrial-class electrical and cooling technology, or other related technical areas.
  • Experience in indirect taxes, economic development policy, infrastructure development, agreement drafting, and presentation development.
  • Experience with data center real estate markets.
  • Experience in financial modeling and implementing clean energy initiatives.
  • Ability to propose commercially and technically creative solutions.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous, collaborative, and fast-paced environments.

In this role you combine your deep market knowledge with tech industry savvy to find solutions that support Google's growth. You'll work with specific teams to oversee vendor and partner relationships. Your successful management skills have the potential to impact every part of the business and save Google millions of dollars in operating costs. You'll ensure that we receive contract compliance on our third-party agreements, while identifying the most cost-effective solutions for our needs. You'll take lead on special projects, manage vendors and present your recommendations to Google leadership.

As a Data Center Strategic Negotiator on the Site Acquisition and Development team, you will work with the team to identify locations and sites of interest for self-developed data centers, establish agreements and build relationships with landowners, economic development officials, power grid and energy companies, telecommunications companies, government officials, data center developers, and data center providers. You will support or lead discussions for purchase and service agreements with these key stakeholders such as managing a broad range of compliance issues, site/infrastructure development strategy, and milestone tracking.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$174,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
